May 12, 2019: NepaliTravellers, an organisation which supports and inspires Nepali travellers to explore Nepal and the world, has announced that applications are open for interested candidates to undertake a fully funded solo journey across Nepal for the Solo Woman Travel Challenge (SWO-YATRA) 2019.
This year, the organisation will be sending five “dynamic and bold” women travellers on their solo journeys across Nepal under the challenge. They will leave for their travel between August 30 and November 30, for a period of at least 10 days,” the statement said.
Prior to the travel, the organisation provides the travellers with training on wilderness first-aid, self-defense and visual storytelling to facilitate the travel plans.
The applications are open from May 10 to June 10.
One out of the five contestants will be selected as Miss NepaliTravellers, who will be representing NepaliTravellers at global platforms. Pooja Rijal is the current Miss NepaliTravellers.
NepaliTravellers has been organising the Solo Woman Travel Challenge, a travel grant competition for women travellers to explore the natural landscape and diverse cultural heritages of the country, since 2015. NepaliTravellers claimed to have provided fully-funded grants and mentorships to 42 Nepali women in their solo travels since 2015. The platform also creates and publishes travel contents that are intimate and localized on online and offline portals.
