Local Start-up Launches Nepal’s Own Two Wheeler Brand “Yatri Motorcycles”

December 20: Yatri Motorcycles, a new start-up based in Kathmandu, has launched the country’s first brand in the two-wheeler segment.

The start-up company with seven members including six full-time engineers on December 19 launched ‘Project ZERO’, a premium electric motorcycle designed to showcase the benefits of electric power in the urban environment. The company introduced the brand new electric two wheeler in the domestic market after two years of research.

Project ZERO is powered by a 30kW motor with 40hp power which gives a range of 230 kilometers and charges under two hours. Project Zero's on-board charger connects to a standard wall outlet to fully charge the battery in just two hours. Fully charged battery covers a range of 100 km.

“While studying the market we came to know that people think pollution and congestion were the biggest urban problems. We, at Yatri, firmly believe that clean-individual mode of transport is an important piece in solving the problem of the urban landscape,” said Ashim Pandey, founder of the company.

He further said that the motorcycle has been designed ground-up by the in-house team themselves.

Project ZERO motorcycle uses carbon fibre and steel chasis for exceptional strength.
