Holi starts with erecting a Lingo in Basantapur, Kathmandu

Holi, the festival of colors in Nepal, commenced with erecting a lingo (bamboo pole) covered with ‘Chir’ (colored cloth pieces) at Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu. The festival involves playing with colors, water, and music. In hilly regions, Holi will be observed on 11 Chaitra (March 24), while in Terai, it will be celebrated the following day, 12 Chaitra (March 25).
