Thai Airways Introduces Three-Class Airbus A330-300 on Kathmandu–Bangkok Route
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) has launched its Airbus A330-300 aircraft equipped with a three-class configuration for flights to Nepal, marking a significant upgrade in passenger experience and service offerings. This aircraft began commercial operations on the Kathmandu–Bangkok route from 1st Ashoj 2082, replacing the previously operated Boeing 777. The introduction of this aircraft makes Thai Airways the first airline in Nepal to offer Premium Economy Plus, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins on the same flight.
The airline has emphasized that this strategic move aligns with its long-standing commitment to providing Nepali travelers with enhanced comfort, improved service standards, and a high-end travel experience under its signature slogan, “Smooth as Silk.” From 9th Kartik, the Airbus A330-300 has been operating two daily flights to and from Kathmandu, ensuring consistent connectivity between Nepal and Thailand.
Cabin Configuration and Passenger Experience
The Airbus A330-300 is configured to accommodate 264 passengers across three cabin classes, each designed to meet diverse travel preferences and budgets.
- Premium Economy Plus: This exclusive section features 31 seats that can recline into fully flat beds, offering direct aisle access and a private, spacious environment. Tailored for long-haul comfort, this cabin provides an experience comparable to business class on many international airlines.
- Premium Economy: With 48 wider seating options, improved legroom, priority boarding, and upgraded meal service, this cabin bridges the gap between economy and premium travel. It caters to travelers seeking extra comfort without the cost of premium cabins.
- Economy Class: The aircraft includes 185 seats equipped with modern entertainment screens, complimentary meals, and attentive in-flight service, maintaining Thai Airways’ reputation as a preferred carrier for regional and South Asian travelers.
Strategic Partnerships and Industry Training
To ensure smooth adaptation to the new aircraft and service model, Thai Airways’ General Sales Agent (GSA) for Nepal, Society International Travel Services, hosted comprehensive training sessions. Travel industry partners such as Travelport-Galileo Nepal and Sabre Nepal participated in these workshops. The sessions aimed to familiarize travel agents across the country with the updated cabin layout, pricing structures, and customer service features to help them better guide passengers when making bookings.
This initiative also strengthened Thai Airways’ market presence in Nepal after the airline resumed full-scale operations in 2023. The collaborative effort has enhanced service delivery, connectivity, and customer satisfaction, further solidifying its standing in Nepal’s aviation sector.
With this upgrade, Thai Airways is not only enhancing travel standards but also reinforcing Kathmandu’s role as an important aviation hub in South Asia. Travelers now have more flexibility, comfort, and choice, whether flying for business, pilgrimage, tourism, or medical purposes.
