Shanghai: A City That Lives in the Heart

Shanghai – Some places don’t just fill a camera roll, they fill the soul. Shanghai is one of those places.
This city, where the future and the past walk side by side, leaves visitors in quiet awe. Towering skyscrapers reach for the clouds while ancient buildings stand proud beneath them, holding centuries of memories. In Shanghai, history and innovation are not separate, instead, they breathe together.
Every corner tells a story. The Oriental Pearl Tower glows like a jewel above the city. The cruise along the Huangpu River carries emotions of all the people riding and apprehending it. The Bund, dressed in lights at night, reflects on the water like a dream that refuses to fade. Even the ride through the Huangpu River tunnel feels like a journey through time that connects the old with the new, and the east with the west.
Recently, a Nepal Cultural Friendship Delegation had the honor of experiencing this wonder. Led by Mr. Narad Mani Hartamchhali, Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, and joined by respected representatives from various cultural organizations, the team visited Shanghai at the invitation of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism.
In just five days, they saw a lifetime’s worth of beauty. From the grand halls of the China Art Museum and Power Station of Art to the quiet elegance of the Shanghai Museum and Chinese Painting Academy, every step brought them closer to China’s heart. At the Shanghai Mass Art Center and the International Arts Festival, culture came alive, not in silence, but in colors, movements, and shared expressions.
The journey was not just about seeing, it was about feeling. In Xintiandi, a modern complex with deep roots, the delegation walked through the Memorial Site of the First CPC National Congress. In Fengjing Ancient Town, time seemed to slow down, wrapping the visitors in the golden light of history.
The journey also opened doors to imagination and joy, with their visit to the vibrant world of LEGOLAND. Located in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, this colorful and creative park is the first LEGOLAND Resort in China and the largest at the time of its opening. It is a place built for wonder, which is synonymous to dreamland for children aged 2 to 12, and a heartwarming adventure for families. There, creativity runs free, and the spirit of play turns into lasting memories. It was not just a visit to a park, but a revisit of childhood, imagination, and shared happiness.
Throughout the visit, something beautiful unfolded, a connection with the city itself. Through art, tradition, and mutual respect, bonds were formed that went beyond words. This cultural bridge brought two nations closer, showing once again that true beauty lies in understanding, sharing, and honoring one another.
Shanghai is a city that never stays the same. It grows, evolves, and offers something new with every visit. Yet, no matter how it changes, its soul remains rich, warm, and deeply human.
One visit simply is not enough to contain what the city has to offer. Shanghai has too many stories, too many emotions, too much beauty for just one moment. It is a city that calls the heart back, nudging to go back again and again. To view the sceneries, to live the stories, and to tell the tales.
And those who go, return changed, not just with memories, but with meaning.
