National Photojournalism Award 2025 Announces Final Five Nominees

Kathmandu – The National Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ Nepal) has officially announced the top five nominees for the “National Photojournalism Award 2025.” The announcement was made during an event held in Kathmandu on Wednesday, where nominees were revealed across eight thematic categories.

This year, the award recognizes excellence in the following categories:
Daily Life, Sports, Women, Tourism and Culture, Economy, Politics, Entertainment, and Independent & Comprehensive Photojournalism. Additionally, provincial-level awards will be presented to photojournalists representing all seven provinces of Nepal.

Highlights of the Category-Wise Nominations:

  • Nepal Telecom Daily Life Photojournalism Award:
    Hari Maharjan, Skanda Gautam, Dipendra Dhungana, Abhishek Maharjan, Bijen Amatya

  • Panchakanya Group Women Photojournalism Award:
    Devika Bista, Kabita Thapa, Menuka Karki, Ramita Chhundu, Sakuntala Rana

  • Surya Jyoti Life Insurance Political Photojournalism Award:
    Anish Regmi, Chandra Bahadur Ale, Dipendra Dhungana, Gopal Dahal, Skanda Gautam

  • Dish Home Internet Sports Photojournalism Award:
    Udipt Singh Kshetri, Safal KC, Sajan Lamichhane, Saroj Nepal, Saurabh KC

  • Agricultural Development Bank Independent Photojournalism Award:
    Ajay Lensman, Dilip Vaidya, Shankar Bhujel, Rajib Hengaju, Tek Bahadur Khadka

  • Adventure Outdoor Tourism & Culture Award:
    Ambir Tolang, Amit Machamasi, Hari Maharjan, Manojratna Shahi, Sushil Shrestha

  • Rastriya Banijya Bank Entertainment Photojournalism Award:
    Skanda Gautam, Saroj Rai, Sagar Basnet, Prem Thapa, Abhishek Maharjan

  • Global IME Bank Economic Photojournalism Award:

Award Selection Committee:

The selection panel is chaired by Pradip Raj onta, with members including:

  • Associate Editor of Desh Sanchar Manoj Dahal

Banta stated that nominees were chosen based on their submitted work and their overall contribution to the field of photojournalism across Nepal.

Final Award Ceremony:

The final award ceremony will be held on Saturday, Baisakh 13 (April 26) at Hotel Himalayan, Kupandol, Lalitpur at 2 PM.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, will attend the event as the chief guest.

During the ceremony, a “Lifetime Achievement Award” will also be presented to a retired photojournalist for their lifelong contribution to the profession.

According to NFPJ General Secretary Ghanshyam Shrestha, this honor is a tribute to the dedication, effort, and lasting impact of photojournalists in Nepal.
