Nagarjun Resort Inauguration, Tourism in Kathmandu Valley Expected to Boost

Kathmandu – A grand inauguration ceremony marked the official opening of Nagarjun Resort on Tuesday, located in Ward No. 3 of Tarkeshwor Municipality, Kathmandu. Nestled in the tranquil surroundings of the valley, the resort is expected to significantly contribute to both domestic and international tourism.
Minister for Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, officiated the opening and emphasized the importance of integrating tourism with Nepal’s natural assets. He stated that facilities like Nagarjun Resort can serve as key attractions for travelers while also stimulating the local economy. The minister underscored the need to better utilize forests, conservation areas, and national parks as part of broader tourism development.
Minister shahi said that Nepal holds immense potential as a global tourism destination and that the government is committed to encouraging private investment and creating a business-friendly environment.
Spiritual leader Swami Ananda Arun also addressed the gathering, describing Nepal as a “golden land for tourism” with the rare ability to offer visitors natural beauty, cultural richness, and spiritual peace. He remarked that Nepal is a gold mine of opportunity, yet still searching for direction, calling for more thoughtful development of the country’s inherent resources.
Local officials including Mayor Krishna Hari Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Srijana Burlakoti Aryal, and Ward Chairperson Parshuram Aryal, hailed the resort as a significant addition to the region’s tourism infrastructure. They expressed hope that it would help transform Tarkeshwor into a more recognized travel destination.
Veteran chef Govinda Narasingh KC, who was also present at the ceremony, noted that the resort is well-prepared to serve high-standard hospitality to both national and international guests.
The event’s coordinator, Niraj Panta, along with members of the resort’s management committee and other distinguished guests, shared their vision of the resort as a hub for tourism, local employment, and community benefit.
According to Resort Manager Abhishek Bikram Shah, Nagarjun Resort currently features 65 well-appointed rooms, offering a premium stay experience. Key highlights include air-conditioned deluxe rooms with panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley, ample parking, a children’s play area, easy hiking access to Kalupande Hill, and a menu that features local-style barbecue, pizza, and momo.
Visitors and dignitaries praised the resort’s peaceful setting, natural surroundings, and high-quality facilities.
