Nabil Bank Wins Asia-Pacific Technology Award from The Banker

Kathmandu — Nabil Bank Limited has been recognized with ‘The Banker’s Technology Award 2025’ for the Asia-Pacific region. The award, presented by The Banker magazine under the Financial Times Group, highlights the bank’s achievements in digital innovation and technology-led transformation in the banking sector.
The award recognizes Nabil Bank’s efforts in re-engineering traditional paper-based processes and advancing customer-focused digital services. According to the announcement, the bank has adopted technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and its mobile banking platform, nBank, to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Manoj Kumar Gyawali remarked that the recognition underscores the bank’s approach to transformation through innovation. “By embracing technology as a driver of innovation, we’ve focused on transformation rather than mere adaptation,” Gyawali said. He emphasized the bank’s commitment to offering secure, personalized, and efficient banking experiences.
Nabil Bank has a history of introducing digital practices in Nepal’s financial sector. It was the first bank in the country to implement a computerized banking system and has since continued to develop digital-first models, including what it claims to be Nepal’s first open banking platform.
The Banker’s annual technology awards evaluate financial institutions across regions based on their use of technology to improve processes, customer service, and overall banking operations.
Winning entries are assessed by a panel of independent judges from the global finance and technology industries.
Nabil Bank currently operates a nationwide network of 268 branches and 320 ATMs. Its continued focus on digital integration reflects a broader trend in Nepal’s banking industry toward modernization and customer-driven innovation.
This marks the first time a Nepali bank has received the regional technology award from The Banker, placing it among a select group of financial institutions across the Asia-Pacific recognized for digital excellence.
