Flood Damages Key Road Infrastructure at Rasuwagadhi Border Point
Rasuwa – A significant rise in the water level of the Bhotekoshi River has caused the temporary suspension of cross-border movement at the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint, one of the key entry points into Nepal from China.
According to an official notice issued by the District Administration Office (DAO), Rasuwa, the swollen river completely washed away the Bailey bridge connecting the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint, effectively cutting off Nepal-China road connectivity. The Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi section of the road has been heavily damaged, prompting urgent intervention.
Local authorities, including security personnel and rescue teams, are currently mobilized to assess and manage the situation. Due to the collapse of the bridge and surrounding road infrastructure, traffic has been halted, and people in the affected areas are urged to remain alert.
The DAO has advised residents and travelers to avoid unnecessary travel to and from the affected areas. It also cautioned the public to be prepared for possible evacuation if conditions worsen. Anyone needing emergency assistance is requested to contact police control number 100 or the District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC) at 010-540091.
The notice emphasizes that further updates will be provided as the situation develops and that all efforts are being made to restore connectivity and ensure public safety.
