Dharahara to Remain Open from 8 am to 8 pm Everyday

Dharahara, also known as Bhimsen Stambha or Seto Tower, is an important architectural structure that holds significant cultural, historical, as well as economic value. After the devastating earthquake of 2015, the face of Dharahara got transformed, attracting a number of visitors on a daily basis. Today, Dharahara has become one of the highly preferred destinations for people visiting Kathmandu or Sundhara area in general. Apart from the tower, the surrounding park of the Dharahara area as well allures people to simply roam around and decompress.
Keeping the popularity of the tower in mind, Dharahara is now set to remain open from 8 am to 8 pm daily. Earlier, the opening hours of Dharahara comprised of 6 hours (10 am to 6 pm), which is extended by six hours from July 17. Equipped with ample parking and lift facilities, more and more people are visiting Dharahara. As per the Ministry of Urban Development, after the reconstruction of Dharahara, 237,065 people have visited so far since November 24, 2024. In addition, 43.3 million rupees are raised from the ticket sales.
Dharahara is 82 meters tall, and occupies 21,272 square meters, including the museum, garden, etc. Constructed in the year 1825, the structure has suffered multiple damages. Nonetheless, the Dharahara still stands proud in the heart of Kathmandu, reflecting the history of the country.
The pricing for visiting Dharahara includes;
- Dharahara area entry charge Rs 50
- Dharahara ascent for domestic visitors Rs 200
- Dharahara ascent for SAARC foreigners Rs 500
- Dharahara ascent for non-SAARC foreigners Rs 1000
- Dharahara ascent for students, disabled, and senior citizens, Rs 100
- No charge for children below 10 years of age
