CAN Federation and Nepal Chamber of Commerce Join Forces to Advance Nepal’s IT Sector

Kathmandu – In a significant move aimed at strengthening Nepal’s digital economy, the Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN Federation) and the IT Committee of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote growth in the country’s information technology sector.
The agreement was signed in Kathmandu by Chiranjibi Adhikari, Senior Vice President of CAN Federation, and Bigyan Shrestha, President of the NCC IT Committee. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and CAN Federation President Sunaina Ghimire Pandey. The initiative, originally envisioned by Adhikari, who also serves as CEO of One Cover Private Limited, represents a major milestone for the tech industry in Nepal.
Under the MoU, the two organizations will work together to advocate for IT policy reforms, attract domestic and foreign investment, and co-host regular networking and knowledge-sharing events for professionals, startups, and industry leaders. The agreement also includes plans for mutual branding at tech expos and conferences, as well as joint efforts to encourage membership engagement and growth within both organizations.
To ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives, each side will appoint coordinators responsible for planning and oversight. The MoU also mandates quarterly review meetings to assess progress and coordinate future activities. The partnership is set to remain in effect for three years, with the option for extension upon mutual agreement. Either party may withdraw from the agreement by providing 30 days’ written notice.
This collaboration signals a broader vision to position Nepal as an emerging hub for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in South Asia. By combining the advocacy and networking strength of CAN Federation with the business reach of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, the partnership is expected to accelerate Nepal’s journey toward a digitally driven economy.
The CAN Federation is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the interests of Nepal’s IT professionals and promoting the overall development of the ICT sector. The Nepal Chamber of Commerce, one of the country’s oldest and most influential trade bodies, plays a pivotal role in shaping economic policy and fostering private sector growth.
With this alliance, both institutions aim to pave the way for a more innovative, investment-friendly, and globally connected tech ecosystem in Nepal.
